Found my dream dress here! It was worth the drive from Maryland to Warrenton, VA to find it. The staff is a little young and needs to improve on professionalism, but super friendly. My only complaint is for the lady who did my alterations. She is partnered with the store...she took my dress to be altered in her home studio and when it came back it had cat hair all over it. Fit perfectly, but tons of cat hair. I took it home anyway, since I was ahead of schedule with the fittings and the week of the wedding, I took it back to be steamed. However, she was very knowledgeable and did great work. She should really keep her alterations area cat free. Other than that, perfect!

I was so impressed with A Formal Affair!! I did not end up buying my dress here, but I made several visits and was more impressed here than with any store I had been to on my bridal gown hunt. Everyone that works here is incredible; helpful, sweet, patient. When I first quickly glanced through the racks, I wasn't sure if I would find enough dreses to try on; I was very wrong. They have a lot of gorgeous dresses! Let them help you pick some dresses based on your style preferences. I definitely recommend looking here for your dress!!

The ladies at formal affair were wonderful! They did a great job on my bridal dress and my sisters bridesmaid dress as well. They were very quick to help out with my last minute details and were just fabulous! The adjustments needed for the dresses were great :)

The formal affair was only the second shop I visited but I found my dress here and loved it. They have a great deal where you get a discount on future purchases if you buy your dress there. I went on to buy a headpiece, veil, shoes and garter. Everyone was so kind and helpful and the seamstress was excellent. I just recommended them to my good friend who is getting married and she has purchased her dress there too.

I bought my wedding dress at A Formal Affair in Warrenton. I enjoyed my fitting there because the representative who helped me did not talk and talk about each dress. She let my family and me discuss the merits. It is the only place I went looking for a dress and I have to say, I absolutely LOVED the one I picked. Overall, they don't have a large selection but they do have several great choices. However, after that first time, the rest of our contact wasn't as pleasant. First, they told me that it might take up to 6 months to get there, which I know now is a ploy to buy time. I did everything the wedding planner books said to in order to kep up with my dress. They told me that it would come in in early to mid-July. This timeline was kind of a big deal to me because I live in Arizona and I needed to fly in to try it and get it altered. So of course, I flew in for a month and a half and it doesn't come in before my flight leaves, despite the fact that I had been told at least twice that it had all ready shipped and would be in any day. I then had to buy another plane ticket to come in and try the dress on. Their alterations lady hardly comes in, so there was no way to set up an appointment even a month beforehand so I had to go somewhere else for the alterations. However, I think that was definitely a good choice because the estimated price for even a bustle or hem were very highSo I do recommend looking at the dresses there but I would make sure that you have the time to wait and that you are in the Warrenton area.

I worked with Jill who was extremely helpful with a great sense of humor! The only downside to A Formal Affair is that they do not allow pictures. I think there was a dress there I really liked, but the next day, I couldn't really remember it so it was knocked out of contention for one that I was allowed to take pictures of myself in that I could think about and contemplate later that evening.I did not buy my dress from here.

I received such fabulous service from everyone on staff! From Jenny, who was my bridal consultant, to Patty, who did the alterations, the experience was top notch from start to finish.

I drove 50 miles to go to A Formal Affair. I visited many different dress shops in my area and I wasn't impressed. The moment I walked into a Formal Affair I felt like a bride. The entire staff is so friendly and ultra professional. The place is very clean and organized.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience at A Formal Affair! Everyone in the store is so helpful and professional, I never got that pushy, nasty sales person feeling like I did at other shops. A Formal Affair aims to please! The owner has done a great job building a team of employees with great customer service...BRAVO! Not to mention, my wedding gown was also a hit! It just happened to be the first dress I tried on in the shop. Everyone was asking where I got my dress from because it was not your typical puffy ball gown or stark white, cheaply made dress you see at other, chain bridal stores! A Formal Affair aims for quality at an affordable price! I would highly recommend them to any bride who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city stores. A Formal Affair is truly a gem!!

This dress shop has some of the most unique dresses that you will not find other places. The staff is SO nice and willing to help in any way. My gown was a great price for how amazing it was! I found the most beautiful, perfect dress and I owe it all to them.

A Formal Affair was the absolute best place I visited when searching for my wedding gown. They girls there are so nice and fun, and it's just such a happy place. There is none of the snobbiness that exists at other bridal salons.I worked with Kara and Jess and found them both to be so sweet. They called and kept me up to date on my gown order at every step. Patty, the seamstress, is out of this world good. She made the dress fit like a dream, and did everything in the expected time. A great place with great people!

My daughter's dress was absolutely gorgeous and I have no regrets about that. We got it at a 30% discount but we gave all of that back and more on alternations. Don't know if the prices were typical but I paid almost $300 to have the bust taken in slightly and the dress hemmed. Unfortunately, the bustle was not done correctly and I didn't know this until between the ceremony and reception. Fortunately, I had packed needle and thread and literally sewed the dress up so my daughter could dance. This delayed the start of the reception and was very disappointing for what we paid.

I loved my experience at A Formal Affair. I am in my 50's and spent MONTHS looking on line for a wedding dress that would be elegant, not "princessy". I finally found the designer, Maggie Sottero, and the dresses are extraordinary. She also offers colors that are unusual (light gold, silver mist) and I decided that I wanted one of the gowns that came in Silver Mist. I went to A Formal Affair when they were having a Maggie Sottero trunk show and was so disappointed that there were no dresses in the color I wanted. My mind was made up, though, and I worked with the MS consultant who was there to pick the dress--sight unseen! I paid for everything that day and was pleasantly surprised at the price. The store gave several discounts which amounted to 20% off the list price. The staff was WONDERFUL. They knew me by name and were always attentive and gracious. Order your dress early! I ordered Thanksgiving weekend for an April 24 wedding and it arrived with less than 3 weeks to spare. This delay is not the fault of the store--and I don't understand what takes designers so long to manufacture wedding dresses--so just order early. The seamstress, Patty, was wonderful and everyone worked very hard to make sure the dress would be ready once it was in the store.Sorry to go on and on here--we also used A Formal Affair for the tuxedos. We had planned to use Men's Warehouse because we thought it would be easier for out of town guests to pick up their tuxes in their hometowns. However, when we went to Men's Warehouse, the sales clerk could not have been less interested in our business. She was even texting while we were sitting with her! Back out to Warrenton (35 miles from our house). They had a bigger selection than Men's Warehouse! A couple of the tuxes came in at the wrong size (including the groom). Actually, when I think about it, the guys who called in their measurements had right fitting tuxes and the two that went to the store had to have their tuxes returned and shipped back. We were not charged for that and everything looked beautiful in the end.

I was a 2-dress bride and when I found my second dress, it was with the owner of A Formal Affair, Debbie, who stepped in to assist me for an appointment I made for a trunk show. She was so wonderful and heard me mention Maggie Sottero gowns a few times while chatting with me, so she left the dressing room and came back with "the one." During the months that I spent coming in and out of A Formal Affair to make payments on my dress and have fittings, I met so many staff members - Jill and Jenny, among others - who were always friendly and knew me by name when I walked in the door, even unannounced. I was offered a discount on my dress.. the dress came in early.. the seamstress was wonderful and did a great job.. and the staff was always accommodating and even offered to let me model my dress for bridesmaids who came in to see it for the first time, even when the sample gown was on a mannequin in the window. I never felt like I was inconveniencing the staff, or wasting their time, even when I only came in briefly to look and browse with a bridesmaid. They offered really great service and I was so thankful to have found my gown there. I felt like a princess whenever I went to visit, and for their shop being an hour away, it was definitely a worthwhile drive. Highly recommended.

I love that I was able to find my gown. They were the only Bridal store in Virginia that had my Maggie Sottero "Eleanor" dress for me to try on and purchase. It was a dream come true!

Wedding dresses are so expensive. And this place isn't different, it's expensive. However, I was able to find a $2000 dress for $500 at a sale they had going on after thanksgiving. The service was excellent, they were very professional and helpful. The seamstress that worked on my dress also did a great job. Overall, it's worth a look-see, especially if they're having a sale.
