Jan - Professional Makeup Artist

Jan is amazing - a literal genius with makeup and also just so warm and great to be around. . . . As I told her, I wish I could get married again and again, just so I can have Jan do my makeup!

Jan was amazing! She is so talented, so much fun to work with and just a pleasure to be around. She made me look more beautiful than I ever thought I could on my wedding day. She also made my mom look gorgeous! Everyone in the DC area should call Jan for their wedding!

We have a family friend who is a makeup artist, and she did the makeup for myself and a few other ladies in the wedding, but I also hired Jan to do makeup for several bridesmaids and an aunt. She did a great job! They looked beautiful and were very happy with their makeup.

I was fortunate to be able to book Jan for my May wedding. Jan did my makeup as well as my mother and 4 of my bridesmaids. She was quick to respond to my inquiry and easy to work with!When we met for my trial, Jan took the time to listen to my concerns. I do not wear much makeup and was nervous about looking overly made up. She made sure that I was comfortable with the way I looked, and I was! She made me look amazing, and my photos look incredible! She also took the time to ask each bridesmaid about how they wear their makeup and which colors they feel most comfortable in. She made sure each of them looked like themselves, but more polished! Everyone looked great, and out makeup stayed put.Jan was on time (and early) to both the trial and the wedding day. She was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her to any bride!

Jan did an amazing job with my makeup last weekend! I have combination skin, which can be a challenge when applying certain makeup. Jan was very patient and continued to try new things until we found the right match for my skin.The makeup held up all night and she also gave me a great little kit for touch-ups. My husband (who normally is not a fan of makeup) said that it was really tastefully done and that I looked gorgeous!Jan was also very friendly! I'd reccomend her to anyone looking for a beautiful, classic look!

JAN IS WONDERFUL!!! If you are thinking of getting your makeup done, BOOK JAN NOW!!! You won't be disappointed!First, I am a makeup- savvy chick and I love to play with makeup, and I was really debating whether or not to have a makeup artist for my wedding. I exchanged several emails with Jan, and all of which she was very responsive, helpful in answering my questions, and incredibly nice and professional in her emails - I feel I have to point this out because several wedding vendors I have contacted seemed to be lacking this skill. Jan showed up on time, actually early, which is always a plus. She was very quick to set up her materials, and just a very pleasant person to meet and discuss the makeup vision I had for my wedding. What you really want to know - how I looked! Jan did a FANTASTIC job on my makeup, and especially on my eyes. I told her I wanted a smokey eye, which we discussed before she even started on my makeup. She was just phenomenal in the makeup application, talking with me throughout the process, and teaching me great tips along the way. My eyes ended up looking gorgeous - I felt so sultry and beautiful all night. The great thing was my makeup lasted from 2pm until after midnight! I didn't even want to wash my face that night!As for price, Jan's rates are quite reasonable, and I quite frankly think she is under the market price for her artistic services. I researched at least a dozen vendors, and Jan was the second lowest price wise. She is by far the most talented one I met with, and especially with others being higher price and IMO not as good, I think she is a true gem to find!You cannot ask for anything better than a talented makeup artist that has worked along side Bobbi Brown, offers great and affordable prices, and on top of that, she is just a complete sweetheart! She is in demand and I can see why. Do not hesitate - contact her immediately and get her for your wedding! You will be thrilled with her!!!

Jan was a delight! She has such a bright and bubbly personality. I had fun chatting with her during the makeup application process.I have very oily skin too - but you would have never known on my wedding day as my makeup was perfect until the end of the evening. That does not happen with my everyday makeup. I loved my makeup on my wedding day. I didn't have any ideas except that I wanted to go full glam so Jan was given complete freedom to do my makeup to suit me as she thought was best. She is very talented - I would have never imagined that my makeup would be as lovely as she made it.The fact that she will provide makeup services for the bride only was a relief too as I had numerous makeup artists ignore my emails after finding out that I just wanted makeup for myself only. Jan is great and well worth the money you pay for her services.

I loved working with Jan – I think it was meant to be! Jan came out to my parents’ house for both the trial and wedding day applications which was so convenient! Jan did my makeup and my mom’s – it was BEAUTIFUL. I felt like a star, and it was so nice to see my mom looking a little more dramatic than with her usual makeup routine. I love that it was classic and elegant, I could not have asked for more. All night I kept looking in the mirror and could not believe it was still perfect after so many hours – through tears, running around for pictures and tons of dancing! Jan is wonderful and would highly recommend her for any event!!

Hiring Jan to do my makeup and my mother's makeup was the best decision I could have made for my wedding. It was wonderful to only not worry about doing my own makeup well and the fact that Jan was willing to travel to my house was extremely convenient. My makeup held up through the entire day - through a rainstorm and a night of dancing! The makeup made me look flawless and glowing in photos. I would recommend her to anyone.

Jan did an amazing job on my wedding day makeup and my mother's makeup. I have never received so many compliments in my entire life - people said I looked stunning and it was mostly thanks to her skills! She was very responsive to all my e-mails and phone calls and was kind enough to send me product samples in the mail when I had some concerns about the foundation we used for the trial. She was great working with my mother and making sure she looked elegant and age-appropriate. She traveled to the hotel where we got ready and it was great having her be a part of our preparations!

Book Jan for your wedding now! Do not shop around, do not do a million trials, do not stress about how your makeup will look on your wedding day...just book Jan and know that EVERYTHING about your makeup will be even more amazing then you ever thought it could be. She is one of the very best choices I made for my wedding and I know that any bride who is lucky enough to get Jan for their wedding is blessed. She has a warmth about her that spreads from the trial (which she comes to your house for-- how wonderful is that!) to the room that you are getting ready in, and into your big day! We took pictures at 2pm, the ceremony didn't start until 5pm, we danced until 11pm and my makeup held up the whole time. I never knew my face could look so natural and beautiful...I only wish I could have Jan do my makeup everyday... she is a true gem.

Jan was quite possibly the best decision that I made for my wedding day. She was professional and extremely responsive right from the start, and I enjoyed every step of the process, from the trial application to the real thing, because it is just so clear that she truly LOVES what she does. I've been in a few weddings and have watched all of my friends get professionally made up many times, but I have never seen them look so natural, and yet so strikingly gorgeous, as they all did at the hand of Jan's magic. My mom was radiant and Jan made my 90 year-old grandmother look like a 70 year-old babe! Everyone was so pleased with their make-up and it turned out so beautifully in photos ... even the ones taken a good 12 hours later. I cannot recommend Jan enough to anyone who wants to feel natural and like herself, but appear absolutely STUNNING in professional make-up. And as if that weren't enough, Jan is a true pleasure to be around! She'll make you feel great inside and out!

I can't say enough great things about Jan. She did an amazing job on me, my mother, my mother-in-law, and my bridesmaids. We all have different skin tones and coloring, and are different ages, but she made everyone look gorgeous. Her real speciality is eyes. My mom has very small eyes, but she made them look large and beautiful. My eyes were amazing. She also has a great personality and will give you tips on products. You cannot go wrong with Jan.

I hired Jan as my makeup artist for my wedding day. She came to the hotel and then to the wedding venue to do my makeup, my mothers, my mother-in-laws, and two of my bridesmaids makeup. After leaving them in Jan's hands while I went and ran wedding errands I walked in to the bridal room at my wedding venue and stopped dead in my tracks! Jan had their makeup done and they looked absolutely amazing and were just so happy with the results. Just a side note she CAN do flawless makeup for any ethnicity (for example my mother in law is Chinese, I'm half Asian, and my cousin is Italian) and ANY skin type. She brings out the best features. She is the best of the best. I can't say enough good things about Jan - she is professional, very very friendly, timely, and a pro at what she does. The first time I met her was when she did an initial makeup trial at my home. I recommend this initial trial to all brides as it allows you to hear her suggestions and for you to tell her how you want to look. She takes notes and makes you feel so comfortable. On my wedding day I had a spot (the horror!) and she was able to cover it up without any problem whatsoever. It was really important for me to look my best on my wedding day and Jan really did a wonderful job! I'm going to hire her again for other important events. Thank you! xoxo

Jan did a great job on makeup for myself and two bridesmaids. She was friendly, responsive and enthusiastic about her work. Jan arrived early on the big day, and made sure we were on schedule without being pushy or demanding. I rarely wear makeup and Jan was able give me a natural, yet dressed up look. She even bought mascara just for me and let me keep it! The look held up all day and night, and I didn't even feel like I had any makeup on. Jan's services are well worth her reasonable prices. I'd definitely recommend her.

I truly cannot say enough positive things about Jan and the wonderful job she did on my wedding day! Upon meeting her, I could immediately tell that she is an utmost professional. I was very impressed that she asked both me and my husband about our comfort levels with makeup and was able to achieve exactly what I wanted from our conversations. She really takes the time to focus on what YOU want and to me, it felt like we were working together to achieve the perfect look for the perfect day. It was important to me to look natural but still have that element of drama - and she did exactly that. She did an absolutely amazing job on my makeup and I have never felt more beautiful! From beginning to end, she was perfection :) She is also a really fun gal to have around which is an added bonus! You will not be disappointed in choosing Jan - I wish I could do it all over again!

Jan is nothing short of a makeup miracle worker. Her talent, professionalism and personality make her so much fun to work with. I had seen Jan in action several months earlier at a friend's wedding and knew without a doubt she was the artist I'd choose for my own day. Jan provided makeup artistry for my mother, mother in-law and myself on the big day and we were all just thrilled with our look. I was going for a bit of 1960's feel with my dress, hair and makeup, but did not want to look like I was going to a costume party (or worse yet, Amy Winehouse!). Jan completely understood what I was going for an translated what I wanted into a look that was fresh, contemporary and very me. I am still receiving comments about how great my makeup looked. I call Jan a miracle worker because she was able to take troubled skin like mine and transform it into something amazing without making me feel or look like I was wearing 10 lbs. of makeup. She really knows her stuff. By the end of the morning, my bridal suite was filled with bridesmaids, family, photographers, etc. and despite all of the commotion, Jan remained calm, cool and collected - in fact, she probably helped bring my own stress level down a few notches through her demeanor. I really can't say enough about Jan and her work. She's fabulous!
